This Weeks UK Charts and New Entries
Usher - Here I Stand has entered the charts at #1 this week, knocking The Ting Tings - We Started Nothing from their one week stand.
Jermaine Dupri, who is a long time friend of Usher’s, and has been involved with some of his biggest hits described Here I Stand as: More about teaching men [that] at some point, you gotta grow up. And growing up is respecting a woman and having a woman in your life and taking care of your woman. That's his definition of growing up. And this album is indeed a breakaway from the R&B standard of one night stands.
Tracks ranging from club hits to slower paced love songs. In the years since his last multi million selling album Confessions Usher has married and had a Son, and this album is a reflection on his own growing maturity. Trading Places and His Mistakes are both stand out tracks.
The Pigeon Detectives - Emergency is the only other new entry on this weeks top 10. The second release from the band that brought us four hit singles on their first album Wait For Me, has jumped over the difficult second album hurdle with ease, and hit this weeks #5 spot.
The album is full of songs instantly recognisable as The Pigeon Detectives, however where the first album had a very one tempo beat to it Emergency does show a maturing with some of the songs showing different guitar sounds and changes in pace.
For me stand out tracks are the acoustic, 'Nothing To Do With You', and 'Making Up Numbers'.

I guess it would be rude not to put another shout out to Neil Diamond, three entries in this weeks top 25, not bad for the old crooner!!
