Oasis - New album to be titled: Dig Out Your Soul!
Well folks, October 6th is the date.
The long wait from the band who brought us two of the 1990's definitive albums, Definitely Maybe and (What's the Story) Morning Glory? is almost over. Their first new material since last years Lord Don't Slow Me Down from the on the road film, and their seventh new studio album, has been officially announced on the Oasis web site.
The album will be preceded by a single, 'The Shock Of The Lightning' on September 29th. Although the single penned by Noel and sung by Liam is unmistakeably Oasis, it may well represent the most recognisable Oasis song on the new album which is a different kettle of fish altogether.
Dig Out Your Soul will contain tracks contributed by all four members but principle songwriter Noel explains “I wanted to write music that had a groove; not songs that followed that traditional pattern of verse, chorus and middle eight. I wanted a sound that was more hypnotic; more driving. Songs that would draw you in, in a different way. Songs that you would maybe have to connect to - to feel.”
Recorded at Abbey Road Studios and mixed in Los Angeles the album sees Dave Sardy return to the producers chair following his work on their 2005 album Don't Believe the Truth, and will be the first release on their own Big Brother Recordings label. In tradition with most other Oasis album covers it features some stunning artwork.
